Fundraising Ideas

How will you raise money for your local netball team, primary school or favourite charity? With so many options it can be difficult to decide. When choosing a fundraising activity, it’s important to remember who your participants are. For example, a gala ball would be unsuitable for primary school students, but would be perfect for a corporate workplace. Here are a few ideas to get the creative juices flowing.

Walk-a-thon, Run-a-thon, Bike-a-thon – Get moving! Friends and family can sponsor each child for every kilometre they walk, run, roller blade, dance or ride. A fantastic way for kids to get active.

Casual clothes / Fancy dress day – A casual clothes day or themed dress up day is always loads of fun. For a gold coin donation everyone can come as their favourite celebrity or book character. Great for schools and workplaces.

Auction your boss – The highest bidder could have their boss running coffee errands for a day, filing or on kitchen duty.

Sporting event – A charity basketball, soccer or football match would be exciting for players and spectators. Mix it up with a father and son, or mother and daughter match. A small spectator’s fee and a sausage sizzle could help raise funds.

Book fair, garage sale, car boot sale – One person’s trash is another person’s treasure. A weekend car boot sale or trash and treasure is a great fundraiser and an opportunity for everyone to spring clean their cupboards.

Art exhibition – Ask local artists, schools students or university students to donate their artworks. A door fee can be charged and pieces can be sold to raise money.
